SCHUNK is expanding its international presence on three continents: in Mexico, China and Austria.
Querétaro, Mexico
Mexico is an investment focus for various key industries, particularly in the automotive and electronics sectors. International companies are expanding their activities here or are planning to do so. SCHUNK is prepared to support them with suitable, efficiency-enhancing production technology as well as engineering expertise and advice: In the new high-tech center Parque Tecnológico Innovación in the city of Querétaro, the new location of the Mexican SCHUNK subsidiary was built on a site of around 10,000 square meters.
“With the expansion, we can quickly respond to the specific needs of our customers in North and South America.”
Marcos Sepúlveda, General Manager of SCHUNK Intec Mexico
It was opened in August 2024. As customer-specific automation solutions are in increasing demand in this industrial environment, SCHUNK Intec Mexico has local manufacturing and assembly capacities for the most important components and applications. Marcos Sepúlveda, General Manager of SCHUNK Mexico, says: “With the expansion of our local infrastructure, we can quickly respond to the specific needs of our customers in North and South America. Our CoLab is the perfect addition and supports our customers at an early stage in their decision-making process.” The new location is geared towards sustainable growth.
Shanghai, China
The opening at the end of September 2024 marks the start of SCHUNK’s new Chinese location in Shanghai – an investment in 7,200 square meters to expand the skills, technologies and capacities on site. Locally, the focus is particularly on the dynamic trend towards e‑mobility. Customers from this sector receive specific support in the implementation of productivity-enhancing solutions for the production and assembly of electric drive train components and in battery technology. The new location is integrated into the international network and has the necessary engineering expertise and all local capacities to implement customer-specific solutions particularly quickly.
“We are now meeting the requirements of our customers and partners with engineering expertise and local added value.”

Customers also benefit from an optimally equipped CoLab where they can validate their automation concepts. Dr. Simon Du, General Manager of SCHUNK China, states: “We are now meeting the requirements of our customers and partners with engineering expertise and local added value. We can now respond quickly to specific customer requests and strengthen our direct contact with our customers and partners.”
“The strategic expansion in Mexico and China not only enhances our global presence but also strengthens the future viability of our company.”

Allhaming, Austria
In March 2024, SCHUNK Intec Austria opened a new CoLab in Allhaming and organized a celebration together with partner companies and long-standing customers. In the CoLab, SCHUNK experts support customers and partners with their tasks and questions relating to automation and jointly develop validated recommendations for increasing productivity. Customers also benefit from the fact that the 13 CoLabs around the world share experiences and ideas with one another, which they then pass on locally. Workshops on various automation topics are also planned at the Austrian CoLab. Daniel Kloimstein, Sales Manager for System Solutions and CoLab Applications at SCHUNK Austria emphasizes: “We want to develop the location into a local knowledge center for the manufacturing industry in Austria and the eastern Adriatic region.”
