The CoLab concept is booming: More and more customers around the world appreciate the opportunity to try out their own automation applications on site in a SCHUNK robot application center with the latest technology and to exchange with the experts. This is helping them to find the optimal solution for their own production – thereby minimizing their investment risk. This year alone, four new CoLabs are opening around the world, starting with the Dutch subsidiary in February.
In ‘s‑Hertogenbosch, robots from the renowned manufacturers FANUC, TechMan and Universal Robots as well as all SCHUNK components are available on a 75 square meter facility. General Manager Guido Segers said on the occasion of the opening: “Our CoLab is a kind of knowledge center for the entire manufacturing industry. We are sharing this knowledge here.” In June a CoLab opened in Nitra, Slovakia, and in July the CoLab in the Shinagawa ward of Tokyo, Japan opened. Brazil will round off the year by opening a CoLab in Mauá in September.
Anniversaries in the USA and Italy
In February, the US subsidiary SCHUNK Intec Inc. in Morrisville, North Carolina celebrated its 30th anniversary. Henrik A. Schunk, who managed the site for several years: “Over the past 30 years, SCHUNK has become a true household name in the American market.” Solutions from SCHUNK can be found in numerous high-tech companies in the US such as Space‑X. There was also a festive mood in Lurate Caccivio near Como in Italy. In May, the Intec celebrated its 25th anniversary. Here, too, all the signs point to the future. Strategically, the Italy Intec is focusing on promising industries such as e‑mobility or life science.
Expansion in Mexico
This is also the case in Mexico. A groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction for the new Intec building in the Parque Tecnológico Innovación in Querétaro. In addition to office space, a warehouse and another CoLab will be built on an area spanning almost 10,000 square meters over the coming months.
