The CoLab con­cept is boom­ing: More and more cus­tomers around the world appre­ci­ate the oppor­tu­ni­ty to try out their own automa­tion appli­ca­tions on site in a SCHUNK robot appli­ca­tion cen­ter with the lat­est tech­nol­o­gy and to exchange with the experts. This is help­ing them to find the opti­mal solu­tion for their own pro­duc­tion – there­by min­i­miz­ing their invest­ment risk. This year alone, four new CoLabs are open­ing around the world, start­ing with the Dutch sub­sidiary in Feb­ru­ary.

In ‘s‑Hertogenbosch, robots from the renowned man­u­fac­tur­ers FANUC, Tech­Man and Uni­ver­sal Robots as well as all SCHUNK com­po­nents are avail­able on a 75 square meter facil­i­ty. Gen­er­al Man­ag­er Gui­do Segers said on the occa­sion of the open­ing: “Our CoLab is a kind of knowl­edge cen­ter for the entire man­u­fac­tur­ing indus­try. We are shar­ing this knowl­edge here.” In June a CoLab opened in Nitra, Slo­va­kia, and in July the CoLab in the Shi­na­gawa ward of Tokyo, Japan opened. Brazil will round off the year by open­ing a CoLab in Mauá in Sep­tem­ber.

Slo­va­kia, on June 20, 2023, Gen­er­al Man­ag­er Fran­tišek Jan­toš­ka cut the rib­bon at the open­ing cer­e­mo­ny for the CoLab in Nitra.

Hence­forth, the SCHUNK CoLab will be avail­able to indus­try pro­fes­sion­als as well as high school and uni­ver­si­ty stu­dents want­i­ng to learn about automa­tion and robot­ics and imple­ment these in real life.

Anniver­saries in the USA and Italy

In Feb­ru­ary, the US sub­sidiary SCHUNK Intec Inc. in Mor­risville, North Car­oli­na cel­e­brat­ed its 30th anniver­sary. Hen­rik A. Schunk, who man­aged the site for sev­er­al years: “Over the past 30 years, SCHUNK has become a true house­hold name in the Amer­i­can mar­ket.” Solu­tions from SCHUNK can be found in numer­ous high-tech com­pa­nies in the US such as Space‑X. There was also a fes­tive mood in Lurate Cac­civ­io near Como in Italy. In May, the Intec cel­e­brat­ed its 25th anniver­sary. Here, too, all the signs point to the future. Strate­gi­cal­ly, the Italy Intec is focus­ing on promis­ing indus­tries such as e‑mobility or life sci­ence.

In the USA, SCHUNK is cel­e­brat­ing its 30th anniver­sary. The brand has ful­ly estab­lished itself there.

Expan­sion in Mex­i­co

This is also the case in Mex­i­co. A ground­break­ing cer­e­mo­ny marked the start of con­struc­tion for the new Intec build­ing in the Par­que Tec­nológi­co Inno­vación in Queré­taro. In addi­tion to office space, a ware­house and anoth­er CoLab will be built on an area span­ning almost 10,000 square meters over the com­ing months.
