Then in 2014 the turning point came: The Manuserv joint project, which was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, helped JUNG to auto\u00admate a previ\u00adously manual produc\u00adtion process using robotics in a way that made sense from a tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adical and economic point of view.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the UR5 light\u00adweight arm from Universal Robots entered the produc\u00adtion halls in L\u00fcnen as a new worker \u2014 equipped with the elec\u00adtric gripper for small compo\u00adnents EGP 40 from SCHUNK. \u201cIt made getting started with robotics very simple,\u201d says Carsten Meise, Team Leader for Produc\u00adtion Equip\u00adment Engi\u00adneering at JUNG. \u201cAutomating loading of the laser marking cell at our smart radio station and equip\u00adping this work\u00adsta\u00adtion with a cobot just made sense. In the mean\u00adtime, we have an exten\u00adsive full range of stan\u00addard\u00adized compo\u00adnents for grip\u00adping, changing and measuring forces and torques for various cobots and light\u00adweight robots \u2500 from Universal Robots, among others.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eWe clearly benefit from SCHUNK\u2019s appli\u00adca\u00adtion exper\u00adtise.\u201c<\/p>\n<p><cite>Carsten Meise, Team Leader Equip\u00adment Construc\u00adtion at JUNG<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the laser cell station at JUNG the light\u00adweight robot and the employee work together harmo\u00adniously, smoothly and safely. It works like this: The employee places a fully assem\u00adbled housing including power supply unit in one of two work\u00adpiece holders and starts the UR5. The SCHUNK EGP 40 picks up the compo\u00adnent and places it in a Rofin laser cell, where first one side of the housing is marked. The gripper then picks up the compo\u00adnent again, the robot arm rotates the gripper together with the work\u00adpiece 180 degrees around the longi\u00adtu\u00addinal axis, and the second housing side is labeled.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the EGP 40 places the compo\u00adnent in a second holder, from which the employee removes it again for pack\u00adaging. During auto\u00admatic laser cell loading, the employee can perform other tasks.
