SCHUNK is consol\u00adi\u00addating its activ\u00adi\u00adties in humanoid robotics into a new tech spin-off: SCHUNK Humanoid Robotics GmbH. The goal of the spin-off is to develop modular, anthro\u00adpo\u00admor\u00adphic robotic hands for indus\u00adtrial appli\u00adca\u00adtions. The aim is to make humanoid systems more widely avail\u00adable and econom\u00adi\u00adcally viable in the future. This work builds on SCHUNK\u2019s many years of expe\u00adri\u00adence in flex\u00adible grip\u00adping tech\u00adnology, as well as an estab\u00adlished network span\u00adning industry, star\u00adtups, and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus is on a new gener\u00ada\u00adtion of modular 5\u2011finger grip\u00adping hands with an inte\u00adgrated wrist and forearm. They are designed as scal\u00adable modules for indus\u00adtrial use. \u201cThere is enor\u00admous market poten\u00adtial in humanoid robotics. With this spin-off, we are creating space for an agile, inde\u00adpen\u00addent, startup-style company with a strong tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adical foun\u00adda\u00adtion and close ties to the market,\u201d says Timo Gess\u00admann, CTO of SCHUNK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through a devel\u00adop\u00adment part\u00adner\u00adship, Robert Bosch Robotics and SCHUNK are combining their exper\u00adtise to develop an indus\u00adtrial-grade robotic hand that can be flex\u00adibly inte\u00adgrated into a range of humanoid robot systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a global tech\u00adnology company, Bosch brings not only exten\u00adsive tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adical exper\u00adtise but also broad industry knowl\u00adedge to the table. This will allow future produc\u00adtion and logis\u00adtics require\u00adments to be incor\u00adpo\u00adrated into the devel\u00adop\u00adment process at an early stage.
